Behavioral Emergency Response Teams Training (BERT)
Impactful BERT Training
Workplace and healthcare emergencies involving aggressive, disruptive, or threatening behavior are increasing. These critical incidents demand immediate, skilled intervention through effective de-escalation, emotional control, and a coordinated Behavioral Emergency Response Team response.
BERT (Behavioral Emergency Response Teams) is a proven, team-based approach used in hospitals, clinics, workplaces, schools, and other facilities to safely manage behavioral emergencies—whether from combative patients, violent visitors, aggressive staff, or other escalated situations. BERT teams deploy rapidly like medical rapid response teams, focusing on de-escalation first, while providing support to frontline staff and reducing the need for restraints or higher-force interventions.
At Resolution Education, our BERT Training prepares your staff to recognize early signs of escalation, respond calmly and confidently, activate your organization’s Behavioral Emergency Response Team, and handle incidents safely—whether the threat is non-armed (e.g., verbal aggression, physical intimidation) or armed (e.g., weapon-involved threats, active aggressor scenarios).
We know alert codes vary widely: some facilities use BERT alerts directly, while others call it Code Gray, Code White, Code Silver (often for armed threats or active shooters), Code Black, or a custom internal code. Our training is fully customizable to align with your exact terminology, policies, procedures, government regulations, and workplace environment—ensuring your team knows precisely when and how to activate the response.
Through hands-on, scenario-based practice and real-world demonstrations, participants gain the practical skills and confidence needed for actual emergencies, not just theory.
